- LA MADDALENA
Piazza 23 Febbraio
Piazza 23 Febbraio, in the heart of La Maddalena, is a symbolic place that pays homage to Domenico Millelire, a hero of the island and Italy’s first Gold Medal for Military Valour. Here the history of La Maddalena is intertwined with the courage of Commander Millelire, who defended the island against the attacks of the French fleet in 1793. The square is an important landmark for those who want to discover the historical and cultural roots of the island and celebrate one of its most illustrious protagonists.

Work Description
The project involved the redevelopment of the public area of Piazza 23 Febbraio in the municipality of La Maddalena.
This square is of particular interest to the municipality, as it is a place where public spaces and events are concentrated. This square is of particular interest to the municipality, as it is a place where public spaces and events are concentrated. The square is particularly sensitive, delicate and has features that required great care in its design, so that it could become an effective example of smart urban planning, offering the community a usable space with which it can identify.
The project was born from the need to create, through the rationalization of spaces, a ‘port square’ that would become a place of aggregation and that could host a historical and cultural itinerary recalling the battle of XXIII February 1793 and the figure of Domenico Millelire.
